Are you passionate about early childhood education and enjoy creating a positive, supportive environment where young children can learn and thrive? We are looking for a Substitute Preschool Teacher to provide classroom coverage when Lead Teachers or classroom support staff are unavailable.

This flexible position may include day-to-day substitute assignments or long-term classroom coverage, depending on program needs. In either setting, you'll help maintain a safe, nurturing, and consistent learning environment for the children we serve while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education.

What You'll Do:

  • Help ensure children receive high-quality, consistent care and instruction when classroom staff are absent.
  • Lead the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher and provide classroom support when support staff are unavailable.
  • Coordinate classroom staff and provide appropriate direction and support to classroom team members.
  • Implement the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, PBIS, Sanctuary Model practices, and other classroom practices with fidelity.
  • Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans and learning experiences.
  • Ensure children are safely supervised, supported, and engaged throughout the day.
  • Complete required attendance, assessments, screenings, and other program documentation.
  • Support individualized goals for children and families and participate in parent conferences, home visits, and family engagement activities as required.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, coworkers, school district staff, and community partners.
  • Communicate with families in a positive and professional manner, including through ClassDojo as needed.
  • Provide services that are equitable, culturally responsive, and supportive of each child's and family's individual needs.
  • Participate in classroom activities, meetings, recruitment, trainings, supervision, and other program activities.
  • Follow CenClear policies, the Employee Handbook, Early Childhood Handbook, applicable school district policies, and program requirements.
  • Provide coverage across CenClear Preschool locations as needed. Travel is required, with mileage and travel time reimbursed according to policy.
  • Work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during the school year according to the assigned work calendar. Daily schedules may vary based on classroom needs.
  • Complete other Lead Teacher or classroom responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • Active Pennsylvania Pre-Kindergarten-4 (PK-4) certification, Preferred Candidates with a current Pennsylvania teaching certification may be eligible to add PK-4 certification by completing the required testing. If hired with a Level I certification, the employee must convert to Level II certification within the required timeline.
  • Associate degree Early Childhood or a related field with coursework equivalent to a major in early childhood education; or
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (PK-4), Early Childhood, or a Bachelor's degree in related field with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood/Elementary Education (PK-4)
  • A genuine interest in working with young children and supporting their growth, development, and learning.
  • Knowledge of child development, early childhood education, and Head Start/Early Head Start regulations.
  • Ability to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing classroom needs and provide coverage where needed.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, nutrition, family dynamics, adult learning, and community resources, with the ability to connect families to appropriate resources.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use required technology and systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to CenClear Preschool Centers as needed to provide classroom coverage.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting on the floor, climbing stairs, operating cleaning equipment, and actively participating in classroom activities.
  • Required clearances must be obtained prior to hire: PA State Police Criminal History Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Criminal History Check, and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.
